Second Life attacked by in-game worm

SLJust when you thought that everything is working well in the virtual world of Second Life, here comes another problem for Second Lifers. After that CopyBot issue that allegedly threatened the game’s economy, the world of Second Life was recently attacked by a massive in-game worm that caused heavy load on the database. This happened at around 2:44 p.m. yesterday.

The official SL blog reported that there was “an attack of self-replicators” that resulted to the slowing down of in-world activity. It was a good thing that the Linden Lab team was able to isolate the problem (the grey goo) right away and they we’re able to clean up the grid. Come 3:18 p.m. of the same day, it was business as usual again.

This just goes to show that even if you are frolicking in the virtual world, reality still has this weird way of getting into the picture just when you thought that everything is already in place.
