Second Life gadget lets you chat the time away

Second Life

Admit it, in the real world you’d always want to be in the know about what’s happening within your social circles – what’s up with that hot cousin of your sister’s ex-boyfriend, what’s happening in your former office, or how did your high-school best friend got rid of all that baby-weight. Common questions that could be answered through simple chit-chats.

Problem is, you just can’t go through life chatting with friends and family to catch up or hang out, because life’s responsibilities (paying bills, stretching your paycheck) usually get in the way. But in the virtual world of Second Life, you can do what pleases you, and if chatting in SL all day floats your boat, we may have some good news for you.

The SLGadget is a free Second Life thingamajig from SLProfiles. For something that wouldn’t cost you a dime, it has a lot of features- the ability to see which of your virtual friends is in the area and is within chat-range, teleportation functions, Private messages from “real life” friends who do not have access to SL, ability to open a mini-blog, and Second Life Usage stats which determines just how long you’ve been playing the game.

The features do not stop there, the package also has an “Orbit Avatars” feature which basically launch Avatars into orbit. Just be careful with this one as you may earn the ire of the SL team and you may be suspended. There’s also a nifty Camping feature which allows you to camp without being logged off due to inactivity. Just don’t minimize your screen and you’re set to camp!
