Security breach: PlayStation Home decrypted by hackers; potential cause for delay?

PlayStation Home - Image 1We’ve just gotten a report that hackers have successfully decrypted PlayStation Home beta 0.86. With these sensitive files laid bare to the public (or, at least, laid bare to the hacking public), current online speculation holds that Home might be delayed due to this incident. Wow. All this talk of delay… if it’s not because of offensive lyrics in a song, it’s hackers. What next?

Ohnoes. Here’s something even I wouldn’t dare touch with a 20-foot pole. Report I shall, however, to keep you guys in the know. We got one iffy news item on our hands, plus a corresponding bit of rumor: a 2-for-1 combo, if you will.

Earlier, a hacker was reported to have been able to fully unpack and decrypt PlayStation Home beta 0.86. The hack supposedly includes “binaries, scripts, and even in-game executable code.” No developments have come out of the hack just yet, and hackers have seen this as something that could eventually lead them to further discoveries.

Be that as it may, the news of the hack has caused some people to panic. Whispers on the web are now saying that PlayStation Home might be delayed due to the disclosure of these sensitive files.

Thanks to James for the heads up.
