Sega denies Space Channel 5’s return
It looks like we’ll have to wait a little bit longer for a shot at dancing with funky fresh diva Ulala. Sega has denied the recent N-Zone report of a Space Channel 5 remake for the Wii, which kind of leaves us feeling a bit down, seeing as Ulala was a perky character that got everyone (including Michael Jackson) dancing.
More on this after the jump!
It’s time for another rumor to get smashed, at least for the time being. After hearing of the N-Zone report that mentioned the possible return of Space Channel 5, ostensibly for the Wii, it seemed as if our dreams would come true.
The problem, however, is that it doesn’t seem to be true. IGN’s coverage of the rumor mentions that “A Sega spokesperson denied the validity of the story, so for the time being it is merely the whisper of a rumour.”
This doesn’t leave us with a lot to go on, at least in terms of the possibility of a new Space Channel 5 game or a port of the previous version. Still, Tetsuya Mizuguchi thinks Space Channel 5 on the Wii might be a good fit, so there’s still hope for a new game to pop up in the future. We’ll just have to be patient and hope that the perky space reporter comes back with a vengeance.
