Sega reveals mystery game: House of the Dead: Overkill

House of the Dead - Image 1Publisher Sega has revealed their mystery game which has caused much speculation in the past couple of weeks. It’s unfortunately not Jet Set Radio as some may have hoped, but it is a new installation of an original franchise. It’s House of the Dead: Overkill for the Wii and we have a video for you to check out.

Sega will be unveiling a brand new game at the upcoming Leipzig Games Convention. Reports say that it will be a game based on one of their original franchises from Headstrong Games, creator of Batallion Wars for the Gamecube and Wii.

Speculations are high that the new game could be yet another Sonic title — that or a new Jet Set Radio. These speculations did have some kind of basis, especially after a new Wii peripheral that turned the Wiimote into a spray can came out.

Oh, but just imagine the possibilities of what you can do with a spray can/Wiimote. All around fun, eh? You can make your own graffiti art right in your own home. And no, you won’t have to get grounded for painting on your home’s wallpaper, as you might probably have done when you were a kid armed with crayons.

However, inasmuch as we’d like to believe that it will indeed be Jet Set Radio, truth is it’s actually a new House of the Dead title. The new title is The House of the Dead: Overkill, and it’s gonna be made for the Wii. No, this is not the same as House of the Dead 4.

We’ve posted a video right here for you to check it out yourself. And as you will see from the video, it does essentially retain that light gun game mechanics, and of course, there are still those danged zombies out for the kill. Complete with campy voice-over: “House of the Dead: Overkill – where zombies walk and bullets talk.”

We don’t know yet if there are any future plans for this title to be ported to the Xbox 360 and/or the PS3, but for now, we’re sure it’s going to the Wii. Anyway we’re sure there’ll be more exciting revelations coming your way from Leipzig, so just stay tuned for those, okay?
