Sega started teasing a new Yakuza game called “Project K” last month during a Yakuza 4 event in Japan. As the latest Famitsu issue reveals, Project K is actually being made for the PSP.
Project K still takes place in the familiar district of Kamurocho but features a new, younger hero named Tatsuya Ukyou. Series creator and director Toshihiro Nagoshi also noted that the game’s final name is not likely to have “Ryu ga Gotoku” in the title.
The decision to switch to the PSP after the last two PS3 games was based mainly on Nagoshi wanting to reach younger audiences to show them to be more aggressive. He doesn;’t want them to go out and be fight-happy delinquents, mind you, but to understand the importance of living strongly.
The director also mentioned that some gameplay elements in Project K would be something people expect from a portable device, although he did not elaborate.
