Shane Kim talks Halo 3: 360 has shot at taking down PS3
Microsoft has placed a huge amount of confidence on the success of Halo 3, and outspoken Shane Kim even goes so far as to say that its release may even ensure the Xbox 360’s place above the Sony PlayStation 3. Kim further expresses an aggressive drive by the company to compete for the hearts of gamers.
Kim, general manager at Microsoft’s Game Studios, believes that the holiday season is a great opportunity for the Xbox 360 to maintain its lead over the PlayStation 3 for the remainder of this generation’s console wars, especially with Halo 3 in the market spearheading its banner. He says:
We’re pretty convinced that a lot of Xbox 360s are going to get sold along with copies of Halo 3. […] We have a great opportunity to push [Sony] to the brink in terms of finishing behind us in this generation.
The release of Halo 3 and the sales of Xbox 360s will also be an indication of how much Microsoft has managed to gain back the trust of the consumer after the red ring of death issue. “From everything we can tell we have been able to remove a lot of concerns and doubts in people’s minds,” says Kim.
