Shattrath City: on Auction House and travel

Shattrath City - Image 1

Shattrath City is basically the capital of Outland with all the activity that goes on there. If it’s a capital, why aren’t there any auction houses (AH) there? Some high level players are finding it irksome to go back to the main cities in the old world since they always get mobbed by lowbies begging for money, assistance, or just plain spamming. If there is an Auction House at Shattrath, there would be no reason to go back.

Azeroth has been practically been a ghost town since the release of the Burning Crusade, and the only thing that has players past level 60 to visit is the Auction Houses. Blizzard poster Drysc has this to add as well:

As others have said we want to keep Azeroth inhabited post-60 and by leaving the Auction Houses and class trainers we can keep an entire game where everyone is interacting at some point instead of a large chunk of players just moving from new land to new land as we release expansions, never to be seen again in the old cities. Performance concerns are also obviously factored in as well… If you’d like to avoid being bothered you can use /dnd.

Some players just roll alts to solve the problem. Plus Drysc also gives advice regarding hearth stones as players are still having problems with travelling between Azeroth and Outland.

It’s probably a good idea to plan your trip back so that your hearthstone isn’t on cooldown if you’re heading back and don’t think you’ll take an hour. Generally I’ll either head back as my last task of the night or if I know that I’ll be able to get back easily. Planning a little around your hearthstone cooldown really isn’t that difficult, and if you screw up and don’t plan appropriately then oh well you screwed up, there’s still ways to get back if needed.
