Shipping quotas: more for Canada come February-March
Along with another round of applause from the consumers, here comes another round of PS3 shipments for Canada. And you thought that only Best Buy branches in North America were getting new stocks of the console? Think again.
It’s just been announced by Sony Computer Entertainment Canada marketing and public relations manager Matt Levitan that the next couple of months will have new PS3 shipments coming in. “You’ll probably see a lot more on the shelves in February than you will January,” he says, “and probably even more in March than you did February.”
He also gives a statement that they could have sold more if they had more units at hand. “The demand is far exceeding supply,” he adds.
The specific number of units arriving in Canada wasn’t revealed, but do you remember Sony’s expectation from last year? They intend to ship six million PS3s worldwide by March 31st of this year.
You guys think they can make it past their self-imposed quota? They’ve already announced over one million units shipped so far in the U.S. alone. With the European launch looming ever so near, plus this Canada shipment promised above, (not to mention shipments in Japan) the six million target is more than do-able for Sony.
