Just a short update on Activision‘s Shrek the Third video game’s release date, previously announced to be this May (or summer for the Wii and DS). Film buffs and game fans who were hoping to complement their movie viewing with a copy of the Shrek the Third game will have to wait longer, as its launch gets pushed back to June 2007. If it’s any consolation, the video game’s new launch will be in closer proximity to the Shrek the Third movie’s UK release.

As previously stated, the game will allow players to play as any of the characters Shrek, Donkey, Puss-in-Boots, Fiona, Arthur, and Sleeping Beauty. On a personal note, what we were hoping to see is how much of the film’s voice dubs the developers are going to port over for its multiple versions – Shrek without Mike Myers (or Antonio Banderas) would be a very empty world indeed.

Regarding the video game’s multi-platform release costs, Shrek the Third will go for US$ 49.99 for the Xbox 360 and Wii; US$ 39.99 for the PlayStation Portable (PSP) and PlayStation 2; US$ 29.99 for the GBA and NDS; and, US$ 19.99 for the PC. The game will also carry an E 10+ rating –  concerned parents can breathe a sigh of relief.
