Veteran actor Sigourney Weaver was interviewed by MTV Games to see whether she would reprise her roles in the video game adaptations of Aliens and Ghostbusters (Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, DS).

The short answer is no. The long answer is because she’s one tough lady to impress if you want to hire her for your games. On Aliens, she said she was offered to reprise her role as Ripley, but she turned it down:

They wanted me to do Ripley and I said, Well you have Ripley killing aliens but also sick people and other marines! And every other word out of my mouth was a curse word. I’m not a nun or anything, but I said, ‘This is not true to the character.’

And they also showed me six video games and said it was going to be made by this company. There was one called ‘Rednecks’ where they shoot animals. The whole thing was so ridiculous.

Now you may be wondering what game she’s actually talking about since neither Obsidian or Gearbox, who are making games based on the Aliens franchise under Sega, ever made a game about rednecks.

The folks at Joystiq and MTV also scratched their heads at that one. Thankfully, some readers pitched their theories. Weaver could have been talking about Interplay’s Redneck Rampage, whose creators may have then moved on to find a place in Sega, or one of the developing studios.

As for her role as Dana Barrett in the Ghostbusters game, she said:

I’d be part of one that was high quality. I don’t think they even asked me to be a part of the [new] ‘Ghostbusters’ one. If they did I don’t remember it and maybe I was just busy.

As I said. Tough lady to impress.
