Simon Strange and Shelby Wills on Godzilla: Unleashed
Atari and Pipeworks Software is currently gearing up Godzilla: Unleashed to be one of the more anticipated games of the year for the Nintendo Wii. However, there’s scarce concrete info for the said monstrous (pun intended) game. Luckily, TohoKingdom.com was able to interview Simon Strange (Lead Designer) and Shelby Wills (Producer) regarding the Wii-bound video game. Here’s what the interview covered.
The role of the crystals in the game are finally explained. Yeah, we’ve already mentioned that in a previous article in passing, but now we have details on this important part of the game’s storyline. Basically, the crystals begin growing after an asteroid shower hits Earth. This sudden growth begins to drive monsters berserk causing them to do things they normally wouldn’t. To make matters worse, the crystals have also amplified the powers of all the monsters. Now, this will be reflected in the gameplay itself, but you should expect some nasty side-effects from having your monster pick up the crystals to boost its power.
Another thing they discussed involved the damage resistance of various monsters that fans of the Godzilla series will remember from previous iterations of the game.
Characters with extreme resistances will max out at 90% this time – unlike the last game where we allowed resistances up to 110% – which would actually heal some monsters (Megalon and Rodan) when hit with the proper element (Electricity and Fire, respectively). That wonÂ’t affect the gameplay much – it actually might really make it less clear that you should NOT use those elements on strongly resistant monsters.
There are more details on the game such as the control system they have implemented on the Wii and online multiplayer which to-date is still a big question mark. You can read more on this interview via our read link.
