“Simple Start” Button – Wii to DS Connection or Development Left Over?

Apparently MasterlinkX, a youtube user, has discovered a hidden feature inside the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection setup menu. This tiny eureka lends itself well to the DS-to-Wii connection theory. Check the video out. it’s quite intriguing.

You’ve obviously noticed that after going through a few menu options, the system asks you to press “Simple Start Wi-Fi Button”. Thing is, that’s something that clearly doesn’t exist on any existing Nintendo hardware.

Is this how the Wii and the DS will sync up?

There are a few problems though. The folks at DS fanboy have provided two pieces of counter evidence. First, there is NO “simple start button” on the Wii. Maybe it’s there and they just missed it, but so far there has been no reports of a simple start button or even a remotely related button/switch/tab/flap/whatever. Next problem is that accessing this mode by hitting the absolute upper-left pixel on the touch screen is ridiculous. Your stylus can’t even reach the pixel. You’re better off using a toothpick or a hairpin.

An old artifact of an abandoned plan perhaps?
