Simplistic Or Complex, you decide, but either way you’re having both…
Now lets look at today’s technology, everything you see does more than what its meant to do. This isn’t a bad thing, but can get quite annoying. Lets take phones. The standard in today’s world is to have at least 1.3 MP and a few hundred MB of memory, however it just seems that with everything they do, we continue to buy other products that do the same jobs but better, and more than likely they too continue to provided other features.
Personally I feel we as consumers should be more open minded to the small extra’s companies include to make a product more appealing. Again, lets take the iPod. When do we ever use the contacts or games features? Also we should continue to the Sony PSP. Yes there are alot of us who use the features on it, but then why do we continue to buy other products that do the same thing. If variety is an issue then you should just buy the simplest products, and lots of them. But consumers have evolved to the thinking of a ‘we need, therefore, we want’ mentality.
Think about it, you are on this site, which means that you are obviously interested in current and future technology. How many of you use a multitude of products that do the same or similar job? Most of us walk everyday, more than likely carrying at least a few hundred dollars worth of electronics and gadgetry, we’re all just easy targets for muggers and thieves alike.
If you think how far technology has grown over the last decade, we used to be content with small MP3 players than stored 30 songs, and a phone that simply made calls and sent texts. Now think where we will be in another decade. They say technology is advancing by at least 6 months to what is current available. This being said idea’s are always becoming real, and those impossibilities are now becoming more and more real. By popping over to the Space blog you will see the development of space travel engines, which possibly can make travelling to Mars for a holiday real, while talking on your space enabled phone which is built into your hand, and then sitting back and watching a movie on your display enabled contact lenses.
Who knows what the future holds, but sit back and think why you have all this technology, and wouldn’t it be easier to buy a product that just did everything, than having one of every bit of electronic gadgetry. Then again, you yourself, might not be the person you are without all your comforts.
