Sinking Island gets Nintendo DS treatment
Adventure gamers will probably like this news, as another adventure game makes it way onto the DS. This time, the game is Sinking Island, and it will be heading out for both the PC and the DS.
Sinking Island is the first of three planned adventures for detective Jack Norm, who winds up investigating a murder case on an actual sinking island. The reason for the island’s descent is apparently the massive weight of a new hotel built on that island, but with the hotel’s owner being the murder victim, Jack has a lot on his hands.
The gameplay twist of Sinking Island is, rather aptly, the island itself. The game is spread out over a three-day period, with lower-leveled portions of the environment becoming increasingly inaccessible the farther along you progress in the game. This means a lot of time management, as well as the good sense to know the butler probably didn’t do anything this time.
Developer White Birds Productions originally began with a PC version of the game which is currently under development, but have also begun pre-production for adapting their adventure game to the DS. According to them, the game will retain the same story and characters, with the touchscreen being the main interface and the top screen giving the player additional information. While we investigate this matter further, you can enjoy the screenshot above, which is White Birds’ actual mockup of the game for the DS.
