Slated PlayStation Store (US) offerings for Launch Day

I've been searching the Store tonight, Don't wanna be alone in life...

Each tick of the second hand must be agonizing by now. US Launch Day, and Gaming Age’s Jim Cordeira already has a sneak peek at the US PlayStation Store. We don’t know if by “US PlayStation Store” he means that there will be country-specific content or something, but we’ll let that pass for now, at least until we have any hard stuff from SCEA/SCEJ/SCEE about that.

Okay, before we get to the slated (may change at Launch Day) offerings for US PS3 owners, let’s get to Jimmy’s impressions of shopping with the PS3. It’s definitely like iTunes, he says, scales very well between SDTV and HDTV formats, categories are organized according to the obvious, and navigation with the SIXAXIS is rather easy – D-pad to jump between hotlink selections, analog to free-move the cursor. Mouse-and-keyboard also supported.

Jim does “drill down” to a few nitpicky details, like how download file size and other details aren’t available until you select the title, and how the current build doesn’t allow you to queue up downloads or have them running simultaneously. As with the Xbox 360 Dashboard, Jim hopes Sony will improve on this with future firmware updates.
