Software, Firmware, and now, Prayerware: The KJV Bible Comes to PSP

Books – including sacred writings such as the Quran, the Baghavad Gita and the Bible – have long been available in electronic form, readily downloadable from any number of websites.  Until now, however, only PC users, or those with the latest PDA’s, could take advantage of this technology.

Now, devout PlayStation Portable users wishing to take a break from destroying monsters, running down inner-city pedestrians and wiping out hostile armies with tactical nukes can enjoy some spiritual refreshment with their own electronic version of the King James Bible.

This project was programmed by a blogger who goes by “Shadowprophet” (aka Patrick Boyd), who says the project started when he found a hypertext version of the KJV online. Discovering it was compatible with the PSP operating system. He has since modified it to run on PSP more easily, requiring less scrolling, and the ability to go to any specific section of the text.

Patrick says, “It is my hope this will help others in studying God’s Word.” It is this writer’s hope that it doesn’t stop here, and that eventually, all the world’s great spiritual writings from Johann Eckart to Gautama Buddha will find their way to a variety of platforms.
