Solid Snake gets Altair’s costume in Metal Gear Solid 4

Solid Snake gets Altair's costume in Metal Gear Solid 4 - Image 1Story-telling and game directing aside, another thing Hideo Kojima‘s got a penchant for is his sense of humor. That’s why a lot of us couldn’t help but snicker with the release of  the Metal Creed Solid 4 April Fool’s video last month. However, it looks like this was actually a foreshadowing of what’s to come in Metal Gear Solid 4. More details are available in the full article.

About a month or so ago, you guys will probably remember seeing a video of Altair running through the war-torn streets of the Middle-East. Not that this sounds unfamiliar for the Assassin’s Creed gamers, except that said streets actually belonged on the set of Konami‘s Metal Gear Solid 4. This was made evident by the copious amounts of gunfire, RPGs, and wayward Metal Gears that appears onscreen, with “Altair” himself brandishing a Kalashnikov.

The video had cropped up on April 1, and hence was dismissed as an elaborate prank, courtesy of the devs. We all got a good laugh at this possibility, though the devs probably spent several sleepless nights creating the skit. Now, what if we were to tell you that the whole scene isn’t just fluff?

Konami has revealed in their recent MGS4 Completion Ceremony in Japan that Solid Snake can indeed wear Altair’s costume in-game as an alternative outfit. The company didn’t specify how this could be done, though Hideo Kojima states you’ll have to do something special to unlock it. Look on the bright side: At least it’s not Raiden who’s getting the new duds, even if he’s the one with the sword.

That’s all the info we’ve got for the moment, though you’re welcome to visit us again in case we receive any further updates. As a parting note, we’ll be posting the April Fool’s video to give you an idea of how the new costume might look. We’re not sure how official this flick is, but in any case, it looks like the joke’s on us.
