Sonic Rivals 2 shown off in GC 2007
The world’s most famous hedgehog is back for more high-speed platform racing as Sega showed off Sonic Rivals 2 for the Sony PSP in Germany‘s GC 2007. The sequel looks to deliver more of what the first game gave us. Take a look:
Sega describes the gameplay style of the Sonic Rivals series as “classic 2D” taking place in 3D environments. Sonic and his friends from the franchise speed off in familiar locales to see who’s got the fastest wheels around, eluding traps and using power-ups all the time to gain an edge.
The Sonic franchise has taken its lickings after its 16-bit heyday, but young fans continue to support releases because of the light and casual appeal seasoned with addictive elements. Will Sonic Rivals 2 contribute to a new golden age for Sonic? We’ll see when we get our hands on it.
