While there’s certainly so much hoopla about Cathedrals appearing inside a violent game as a battleground for a full-out firefight, it’s certainly good to know that the parties concerned (namely Sony and Insomniac Games) aren’t letting it get to them that much, what with holding the very first online Resistance: Fall of Man contest and all.

Yes, Resistance fans – for the first time ever, you’ll be playing for some serious hardware that would probably set you back a big pile of greens or two, should you decide to purchase them yourself. The winners of the five-week grueling marathon that’ll test everything from their skills to the hardness of their cores, will be going home with sweet Platinum DVD Dream systems, GameStop giftcards worth about three big digits (US$500), as well as cold hard cash.

Registrations start June 18, with the actual concert behind held from July 7 to August 12. Two game types – Deathmatch and 3-on-3 – await daring participants who want to pit themselves against the world’s finest. And as we’ve mentioned already, whoever gets to the top of the heap relatively intact gets the booty.

If you think you’re up for the challenge, you’d better head on over to the tourney site to register, done simply by clicking on the read link we’ve supplied below. Good luck and good hunting!
