Sony and Microsoft to get new PR agencies

Looking for new...Sony and Microsoft are apparently currently searching for new entities to do their PR duties for them. Sony UK has parted company with its longtime consumer communications partner Jackie Cooper PR due to a possible “conflict of interest,” or so says a Sony Spokesman.

You see, Sony has had a very good relationship with JCPR, the agency winning awards for its work with the PS2 and the PSP and all that. However, the London based company was acquired by PR giant Edelman around 18 months ago. The clincher is that Edelman has since become Microsoft’s key agency for Xbox in a number of other territories.

On Microsoft’s side of things, Microsoft has confirmed that it is at pitching stage with a number of PR agencies after having parted ways with former PR agency, The Red Consultancy. Microsoft claims that a decision is yet to be made, but, as part of the PR powerhouse Edelman, JCPR has a really strong chance of picking up the UK Xbox PR business.

So who’s working with Sony now? Well, currently Sony is working with Shine PR on a five-month basis. It will not, however, appoint the agency in the long-term. MCV Interactive reports that this is due to Shine’s key account currently being Electronic Arts.

He-he. Another amazing EA moment
