Speaking with Gamehelper Consoles, technical director Christopher Reese and creative director John Garvin divulge even more information about their upcoming love-child for the PSP Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror. Several aspects of the game are covered in the interview, ranging from gameplay to weaponry to the plot line we can expect when Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror is released this March.

SF_bendteam_chrisThe main staple Syphon Filter is the taser, so that never gets old and we?ve kept that in. We?ve introduced some new weapons and gadgets as well. One of the new weapons that becomes part of Gabe?s arsenal is the MB-150, which introduces this new concept of darts that he can carry around with him. It provides a lot of different functionality, depending on the situation he?s in. He?s got explosive darts, gas darts, and taser darts as well; all of which are extremely lethal but can be used to take out multiple enemies at once or for stealth purposes.

SF_bendteam_john?we?ve changed the focus of the franchise a little bit, so that Gabe is, instead of just a generic agent working for the CIA (before this, Gabe?s agency was a watchdog for other agencies), we?ve taken it a little farther now so it?s like what if the CIA had a SWAT team. So, what he does is handle missions which are too dangerous for regular civilian intelligence like the CIA or too sensitive to send in regular military or police units. So what that means is that if something happens, say at a refinery where there?s a paramilitary or terrorist attack, Gabe?s agency is called. One of the first things players are going to notice is that Gabe?s basically saying, ?Well, why us?? Well, the reason is because the refinery is actually a front for a secret government weapons project. And that?s where the story starts.
