Sony cat Toro-kun finally reveals his true purpose

Mainichi Issho!

Now, I’m pretty sure that at one point or another, everyone has somehow glimpsed a cartoon-y white cat somewhere in the barrage of PS3 and Sony ads, even for just a split second. This little kitty is currently being featured at the Japanese version of the PlayStation Online store. Well, it’s about time that everyone got introduced to Taro-kun, as apparently, he would be the official newscaster and talk show host for Japanese PS3 owners, and perhaps even all around the world. Maybe.

In any case, Toro who is originally from the 1999 PocketStation game Dokodemo Issho (“Together Everywhere”) now makes a come-back in high-def via Mainichi Issho (“Together Everyday”). This time, he would be sharing an apartment with his black co-feline, Kuro.

Together in their small apartment, they would be “hosting” their talk show and delivering blog-type newscasts to users three times a day. Containing well-written content, users can then click through the dialogues and get news about anything from Sony updates, to sports and weather news, as well as the latest downloads available on Sony Online. Also, the two ask questions from time to time, and your replies will play a part on the content of future broadcasts.

Toro and Kuro are far from boring broadcasters, though, as shown in the photo above which features Toro asking if perhaps we’d have the PS10000 in the year 61988. They also have small trivia games in which you can win small prizes which come in the form of items that you can furnish their small apartment with.

Japanese cuteness. Gotta love it.
