Sony cites production schedule for DualShock 3 NA/Europe delay

While it’s certainly good that Sony is now on the path to making sure PS3 owners get the full next-gen experience with the release of DualShock 3, we can’t help but ask the rather big discrepancy between the release dates of the rumble-enabled controllers in Japan and in Europe/US. As was previously reported, Japan gets next-gen rumble on November, while the rest of the world gets it next spring.

So why the delay? Sony answered this question through a Sony Computer Entertainment America spokesperson. They replied, “It’s our manufacturing/production schedule. We are producing units first for Japan and then for NA/Europe.”

Well, there you have it. It’s the production schedule of Sony that has them producing DualShock 3 units for Japan first, and then for the rest of the world later. Of course, we can’t figure out why they couldn’t just make one whole batch for all three regions, instead of two separate ones.

But at least, we know that next-gen rumble is on its way – and we’ll have that comfortable heaviness in our palms while playing our favorite PS3 games.
