Sony clarifies: 145 PS3 games for US by March
It was bound to happen. The number was too fantastic, and thus prone to get some kind of backpedaling from Sony. As expected, we now have it.
It seems Kaz Hirai’s claim of 380 PS3 games was actually referring to worldwide numbers. In truth, Sony’s really going to be churning out the more realistic number of 145 or so games for American audiences.
What’s the makeup of that 145? According to Sony, 40 of those will be PlayStation Network titles, while the remaining 105 will be boxed titles. On the bright side, this does include some highly-anticipated titles, such as Lair and Metal Gear Solid 4, so folks shouldn’t worry about the numbers so much, as long as the quality is good.
