Sony Cuts PSP Production

Earlier this year Sony informed companies providing them with components for their PlayStation Portables to expect orders somewhere in the vicinity of 18 million units.

However, in a recent meeting with these suppliers, Sony confirmed that it plans to manufacture 12 million units instead– 33.3 percent less than originally projected. On the flip side, Nintendo is prepared to manufacture over 20 million of its Nintendo DS units throughout the fiscal year. What’s up with that Sony?
