Sony Delays PS3, Blu-ray to Blame
By now everyone has probably heard of rumors regarding the PS3 being delayed until late this year for various reasons, but Sony hasn’t said a word about it… until now. Today, a Sony official talking with a reporter from the Japanese newspaper Nihon Keizai Shimbun declared that the Playstation 3 will not be released until November.
Although the technical details regarding the detail are still unknown, an issue regarding copy protection related to the Blu-ray disc drive is the main cause for the delay. Sony also has a big announcement planned tomorrow at the Playstation conference, and with the upcoming Game Developer’s Conference we can expect to hear more on this issue soon.
It’s too bad that the PS3 is being pushed so far back mainly to prevent piracy, but it’s somewhat relieving to hear Sony finally shed some light on this issue. Now that most of the rumors have finally been put to rest, all we can do now is wait another half of a year until this potential “Xbox 360 killer” will be released.
