Sony “delighted” at PS3 Platinum’s success

PS3 - Image 1Sony is “delighted” with the success that the PS3 Platinum range is experiencing, and is already prepping up for more. Product manager Phil Lynch shares a few comments on the platform’s success and the impetus that made it go the distance.

Resistance: Fall of Man - Image 1The PS3 Platinum is doing great and Sony is loving it. “We are delighted with the response to the Platinum campaign from consumers and retail partners alike,” said Phil Lynch, product manager for Platinum.

With Platinum ranges already established on PS2 and PSP, the addition of a PS3 range has been very well supported at bricks and mortar retail with dedicated Platinum bays in-store.

The Platinum range started with top-caliber games, such as Assassin’s Creed Assassin’s Creed (Xbox 360, PS3) from Ubisoft, and Resistance: Fall of Man from Insomniac Games.

Titles released in the Platinum range are sold at a much cheaper cost, unlike regular releases. Problem is, it’s unlikely that we’d see a fresh release on this range, and playing the waiting game is tough when you want your hands on a game ASAP. Let’s hope for the continued success of this range, so we can expect to see more titles on Platinum. Cheers.
