Sony demos possible future HOME updates: virtual pets and audios, and direct demo downloads
Virtual pets, virtual audio players, direct demo downloads from PS Store — these are but some of the things that Sony intends to bring to their online abode, PlayStation Home. Question is, are they just too good to be true?
Virtual pets, virtual audio players, direct demo downloads from PS Store — these are but some of the things that Sony intends to bring to their online abode, PlayStation Home. Question is, are they just too good to be true?
As far as Sony Computer Entertainment’s Masami Kando is concerned, not entirely. At a lecture in Japan at the CESA Developers Conference yesterday, Kando said that these things are on the could-do list of Sony, as a matter of fact. He even showed two demos to prove that they are serious about bringing these items to Home.
The first demo showed the playback of net radio broadcasts, podcasts, even TV commercials, which could all be synchronized across multiple users. The second demo showed the virtual pet, a robot that moves about your room while waiting for you to get home. It’s a smart one too cos it actually reacts to calls. No keyboards needed.
All these, for now, are mere possibilities. But if Sony does decide to bring these features to Home, that’s just more reasons for you to enjoy staying Home. Kando also said to expect a Home update in the future that will allow users to directly access the PS Store. This means easier accessibility to demos for download and direct online play.
