Sony Italia president leaves, enter David Reeves
Following earlier reports about the letter that David Reeves, big boss of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) sent about laying off 160 employees, the president for SCE Italia Corrado Buonanno steps down from office.
Reeves is aiming to streamline Sony’s business since the industry is changing. He adds that “the management of the company has concluded that we need to change our structure, streamline and strengthen our business operations – and that our cost base needs to be significantly reduced.” Could this be a factor of Corrado Buonanno’s resignation?
Well, a representative from SCEE said that the president has indeed left the company, but for normal business reasons. Reeves replaces Buonanno as president for Sony Italia and Jim Ryan, COO of SCEE will take on the managing director position. Reeves had this to say about Buonanno:
Corrado has been with Sony Computer Entertainment Italia for 12 years in which time we have seen PlayStation become a symbol for Italian people. Buonanno leaves behind him a very strong PlayStation team, in whom we have the utmost confidence.
Well, we’ll see how this goes for Sony Europe – and for the employees that might be laid off. Check back for more updates.
