Sony Japan safe from job cuts
It looks like Sony Japan will be spared from the recent rash of layoffs that have been instituted in the other arms of Sony Computer Entertainment. This news was revealed by a spokesperson from the company.
According to a report from the Associated Press, SCEI rep Sayoka Henmi said that the company’s Japanese arm has no plans to make any of its staff redundant. When SCEE underwent job cuts earlier this year, SCEI spokesperson Satoshio Fukuoka suggested that the company’s Japanese operations could also be subject to streamlining.
Henmi also confirmed that some SCEA staff had indeed been made redundant but declined to reveal the exact number of affected employees. She also echoed SCEA PR boss Dave Karraker’s previous statements, saying that the company’s goal is to “reform the organization.”
