The “Let’s Play a Game!” competition (also known as Yarouze or Net-Yaroze) has been running since 1995, with the aim of creating original and completely unique game software for the PlayStation format.

Previous competitions have resulted in hit games such as “Dance Dance Revolution”, “Soul Calibur”, “Pokemon”, “Age of Empires II”, and the Japanese million-seller “Dokodemoissyo [Always Together].”

Applications are invited from both professional and amateur scene writers, programmers, script writers, 2D & 3D computer graphics designers, motion designers, sound engineers and any other role required in game development.

The successful candidate will enjoy complete support from Sony Japan, with all living and production expenses paid by the company. In addition, the successful candidate will have access to equipment and software required to create the game, as well as technical guidance and assistance in setting up a team.

In return, Sony expects the candidate to be completely focussed on delivering an original game that will grow the PlayStation market.

Corporations, groups or individuals of any nationality may apply, however, team members must be 18 years of age or over and living in Japan. Entrants must submit their entries via the “Let’s Play a Game!” website, which will be launched on November 1 2005.

Applications will be open from 15 November 2005 – 28 February 2006.
