Sony plans to use the database for its online operations. The investment deal includes Sony, Charles River Ventures and Valhalla Partners. The New Jersey based EnterpriseDB develops a version of the open source PostgresSQL database software targeted at the enterprise database market. PostgreSQL is a open source database that is used on many public web hosting services as an alternate to mySQL.
