Sony: Platinum hits for PlayStation 3 “likely”

Sony: Platinum hits for PlayStation 3 While Sony hasn’t made a official announcement yet, a company spokesman hinted that they’re thinking of releasing a Platinum hits lineup for the PlayStation 3 as well. The Sony spokesman’s exact comment is available in the full article.

Sony: Platinum hits for PlayStation 3 A few hours ago, retailers in Japan began indicating that Sony was arranging to release the “PlayStation the Best” gaming lineup for the region’s PS3s.

This move would re-release PS3 titles to gamers at considerably lower prices much like other similar budget you’ve probably seen on the PlayStation Portable.

Now, in case you’re hoping that Sony’s going to confirm this bit of speculation, we’ve got some good news. The company stated that the release of Platinum hits for the PS3 was most likely, given that they had already done it for their previous systems. Quoting the spokesman’s exact words:

We have introduced a Platinum range of best-selling titles for all of our platforms to date, and it is likely that we will do so in the future for PS3. However, no decisions have yet been made on timing or line-up.

Here’s to hoping Sony steps up with some proper confirmation in the near future.

At the moment, Japan’s retailers listed Resistance: Fall of Man, FolksSoul (aka Folklore), Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Gundam: Target in Sight, and Ridge Racer 7 as part of the PS3’s “The Best” collection. These titles are currently scheduled for a March 19 at a price of Â¥ 3,800 yen (US$ 35) each. Drop by again if we receive any official word regarding this matter.
