Sony responds to Church of England through BBC news
A lot of talk has been going on about the Church of England’s protests over Sony using the Manchester Cathedral as backdrop in its hit game, Resistance: Fall of Man. The church has asked that the game be pulled out from shelves and that Sony issue a formal apology.
BBC News covered the entire issue, pointing out both sides of the argument. Sony’s response stated that while they are taking the concerns posed by the Bishop of Manchester very seriously.
Resistance: Fall of Man is a fantasy science fiction game and is not based on reality. The game is set in an alternate and mythical version of Europe in the 1950s, in which the enemy are strange looking alien invaders seeking to destroy humanity.
Whilst we believe that we have sought and received all permissions necessary for the creation of the game, we will be contacting the Cathedral authorities in order to better understand their concerns in more detail.
How the church will follow through on the matter is not yet known. The Church of England stated in a previous press release that it will be considering legal action if its demands are not met by Sony. That said, watch the video.
