Sony: Survey is just a survey, no confirmation on Blu-ray God of War II
A survey is just a survey. Unfortunately, this is what Sony said in regards to the survey that recently made its rounds on fans’ emails, asking about whether or not they would like to see a collector’s edition for God of War III. The survey sent hopes for backwards compatibility skyrocketing to high heavens, only to be dashed right back down to the ground.
A Sony Computer Entertainment rep talked to Kotaku and clarified what the survey was all about. “It is simply a marketing survey. The goal of it is to do focus group testing. We’re just trying to find out what would resonate with the God of War community.”
And the community has spoken: they want backwards compatibility with the PS2 version. However, the survey still shouldn’t be taken as a guarantee that it will indeed come.
If that was the number one requested thing, that would be something that they would need to see if that was most technically feasible. Obviously with Blu-ray, we’re able to put more content on the disc. But in terms of having seen God of War II on a Blu-ray disc on a debug and playing it that way, no, that’s not something I’ve seen.
But it’s the PS3 — surely nothing is technically impossible, right?
