Sony’s Blu-Ray DVD Player in PS3s Doesn’t Scare Microsoft

At least that’s what they say. Folks at Microsoft have been threatened (though they don’t admit it) by the fact that Sony PS3s will feature the Blu-Ray DVD player when it debuts. Luckily for Microsoft, the Xbox 360 doesn’t have to go against the PS3 until November. Even with this advantage, sales of the Xbox units have plummeted already, thanks to the shortage and the slow production of the Xbox systems (and maybe the reluctance of unimpressed gamers to buy it).

Microsoft doesn’t plan to add an HD-DVD to the Xbox, (maybe) because that would mean they’d have to go back to the drawing board and accommodate this new software. But they shouldn’t worry so much with competing against the PS3’s advantage. The PS3’s release has been delayed so the Xbox is still the top gaming console – for now.

For those at Microsoft, enjoy it while it lasts. You’ll be scared soon enough.
