Sony’s compatibility checker updated to include 80 GB PlayStation 3

Wondering if your copy of Disgaea 2 will run without a hitch on your newly-bought 80 GB PlayStation 3? Sony‘s US PlayStation site has recently updated its PlayStation 1 and PlayStation 2 compatibility checker. Visitors can now opt to see if their games might have any specific bugs when run on the 80 GB unit’s software-based emulator. A quick check of the site indicates that Disgaea 2 will experience a 5% slowdown on the opening FMV – nothing too big.

But while the the checker runs fine scanning old PS2 and PSOne games, newer titles like Persona 3 drew up a complete blank. Guess we’ll have to wait for updates to the site.
