Sony's PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Portable console unit and handheld- Image 1If you’ve been staying tuned to yesterday’s PS3 customer service care drama between PS3 gamer Ive and a Sony Customer Service Representative, then you’ll be pleased to find out that we have a new episode ready for you today.

After previously being told that his warranty was voided because of the dust that accumulated on his console, Ive tried his hand at calling the people at Sony again to resolve the issue. If you’re interested in seeing how the latest drama unfolded here’s a short transcript between Ive and the CSR he recently talked to:

Ive: I’m calling just to pretty much clarify the PS3’s warranty, if there’s any clause in the warranty that makes it so that if the PS3 is too dusty that the warranty is void.

CSR: No.

Ive: No?

CSR: No. The only way that it, um, voided is if it was neglected, um, abused, dropped or anything like, modificated like if you opened it up, modification, if you didn’t have your receipt, um, any power failures like mother nature or anything like that then that actually does void the warranty. Other than that any defective PS3s or anything like that is still, um, still under the warranty.

Apparently the technician that he spoke to yesterday constituted the accumulation of dust in his PS3 as a form of neglect and constituted a voided warranty on his part. The conversation ended with the CSR merely saying that the word of the technician at the service center was final and there wasn’t anything else they could do about it. This obviously did not please Ives one bit.

You can stay tuned to us for more episodes of Ive as he continues his quest to get his PS3 fixed. But seriously, this may serve a good lesson for those gamers who don’t take better care of their consoles.
