Sony’s take on NPD’s numbers for September
Despite the fact that Microsoft is enjoying the lead in last month’s marketing sales due to the successful debut of Halo 3, Sony is still optimistic about its own numbers for September according to reports from the NPD Group.
Sony commented that they were able to maintain positive numbers despite its rivals’ continued boost of sales. The gaming company reported:
According to NPD data, September 2007 was a strong month for the PlayStation brand, which showed a 13% increase in total retail dollars generated year-over-year in the U.S. with total sales of US$ 337 million for the month.
It was also noted that with the upcoming release of its new US$ 399 40GB PlayStation 3 SKU and the new US$ 499 price point for the 80GB model, analysts from Sony are expecting to hear good news for the holiday season sales.
With titles such as Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction, Warhawk, Heavenly Sword, Folklore, and Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, the PS3 is expected to end the year with a bang. On a final note, Sony also related that its PSP and PS2 sales were looking good and that it will be expecting positive sales up until the end of 2007.
