Spain: 100,000 of 110,000 PS3 units sold
Our previous report on PlayStation 3 sales in Europe said that MCV UK noted that the number of units sold in Spain was around half that of the record breaking 165,000 sold in the UK. Well, more good news, MeriStation reports that a full week after launch, 100,000 units of the 110,000 PS3 units shipped to Spain has been sold already.
A Sony representative has quoted as saying:
Okay, sorry ’bout that. Basically the guy’s saying that it’s the first time an entertainment system has penetrated so fast in such a brief period of time. He also notes the increase in demand (by a factor of 30%) for the Blu-ray format this week compared to the previous one.
If MeriStation is to be believed, that means that Spain has around 10,000 units left. They shouldn’t worry though as Sony is reportedly planning to ship 20,000 units to Spain on a weekly basis.
