Spot the diff: a PS3 and PS2 comparison

PS2 vs PS3?

The PS3 Japan launch is finally over, and most Japanese PS3 fans are probably having the time of their lives tinkering around with their brand new PS3 units (lucky them!).

Of course, we have yet to receive our own PS3s, but before we let ourselves drown in PS3 fandom, let’s take a look at 1up.com’s interesting take on both the PS3 and its “older” sibling, the PS2. According to our source, “no console maker has ever dominated three consecutive platform generations.” And considering the negative feedback Sony had been receiving from the press, we can’t deny that there’s a small (eency-weency) nugget of truth to that fact.

Now, the rest of the world is awaiting for the launch of Sony’s latest baby, and to sort of commemorate its release, let’s take a look at 1up.com’s PS3 and PS2 observations. Central to that observation is the question, “Is history repeating itself?”

The list is pretty long, and pretty amusing, so I’m not going to spoil it to you by enumerating everything here. Suffice to say, it involves Final Fantasy, Tekken, Ridge Racer and a couple of rubber duckies. *winks*
