There's a new version of Sprite Editor DS out, and it now includes a new 32x32 pixel editing mode. This latest version also includes a new palette reorganizer found under the editing grid along with an import function that lets you import new colors via WiFi.
Improvements have also been made to memory management. As far as we can gather from the web translation, users can now mix 16x16 and 32x32 blocks. The new 32x32 editing mode also includes a new "slider" mode.
The control scheme in previous versions is still valid in Sprite Editor DS version 0.3.2. The download below doesn't include a readme file, so if you're looking for more information, feel free to check out the source site. It's in French, though.
