Square Enix Europe CEO has “great faith” in Natal and Move

If you ask Square Enix Europe CEO Phil Rogers, he’s got his own ideas about how it’ll play out.

 

“We’re excited by motion control,” he told Develop, “but it’s not going to be technology on its own that’s going to change the landscape here, it’s going to be the software.” “As an add-on, both Move and Natal might not work in changing the market, but we have great faith in both right now,” he added.

 

Sure, a console’s success depends heavily on the software it plays, but for the new motion devices, things are a little different. Project Natal, for instance, offers a reinvention of the Xbox 360 user interface with its face, voice, and gesture recognition. Still, from a third-party publisher’s perspective, Square Enix’s interests will naturally fall into the software side.
