Square Enix: No Kingdom Hearts PSP for now

Square Enix: No Kingdom Hearts PSP as of now - Image 1The PSP community seems all about petitions lately with different groups of gamers clamoring to see their favorite games – like Resident Evil – on their much-loved handhelds. Among these many petitions is a request for Square Enix to make a portable Kingdom Hearts title.

According to petitioner Rafael Bernard, he sent Square Enix an email the other day and pointed out to the company the online petition he started. Currently, the total number of signatories is around 1,700 but Bernard mentioned that he is planning to gather some 18,000 more.

Rafael Bernard doesn’t have to wait too long for a reply because one representative from Square Enix already sent in another email. According to the company’s customer support personnel:

Our parent company, Square Enix of Japan, has no current plans to create a sequel to Kingdom Hearts at this time. This is not to say that it will never happen, it’s just that their development teams are currently focusing on numerous other projects, Namely Final Fantasy: Crisis Core and a few others.

On a hopeful note for all Kingdom Hearts fans, it should be remembered that character designer Tetsuya Nomura revealed back in May that they are planning something special for Kingdom Hearts. Nomura said that it isn’t going to be Kingdom Hearts III as it is more of a side story to tie some loose ends. The designer didn’t specify, however, on what platform it will be released.
