Star Ocean: The Last Hope - Image 1Following the recent announcement of Star Ocean: The Last Hope, Square Enix has reaffirmed that they currently have no plans to release the game on Sony‘s PlayStation 3 console via a statement published on Yahoo Japan.

A lot of people looking for a PlayStation 3 release for the latest Star Ocean adventure still remain hopeful, though, aided somewhat by Square Enix’s continuing coyness about the game’s Xbox 360 exclusivity.

Square Enix producer Yoshinori Yamagishi has earlier stated in an IGN interview that the game will indeed be “released first” on the Xbox 360, lending further fire to hopes that it will one day end up on Sony’s console.

Others have pointed out that during the announcement for the game, there was no talk of exclusivity for Star Ocean: The Last Hope. Both Tales of Vesperia and Infinite Undiscovery, however, were heavily trumpeted as being exclusive for Microsoft‘s home video game console.

Star Ocean: The Last Hope is currently scheduled for a 2009 release on the Xbox 360.
