Star Trek Online announced, nine screenshots included

After Perpetual Entertainment halted development early this year, Cryptic Studios is now taking up the mantle and has announced that it’s working on a Star Trek MMO, called Star Trek Online, which is supposed to head to the PC and consoles. Virtual space looks to be the final frontier for the Star Trek franchise. Going boldly where some MMORPGs have gone before, Cryptic Studios has announced that it’s working on a Star Trek MMO, called Star Trek Online, which is supposed to head to the PC and to an undisclosed console platform.

Previously, work on a Star Trek MMO was done by Perpetual Entertainment, who scrapped their development early this year and were apparently closing up shop. That said, we’re hoping that Cryptic Studios does a bang-up job of bringing the universe behind Kirk, Picard, Sisko, Janeway, and Archer.

Below, you can find some features that’ll be made available to the MMO, as well as some screenshots. More information, as well as a trailer, will be made available at the Star Trek convention in Las Vegas on Sunday, August 10.
