Star Trek Online release window for Q1 2010, closed beta “just around the corner

Cryptic Games has officially confirmed that Star Trek Online will indeed be launching sometime during the first quarter of 2010. Not only that, they also teased the arrival of a closed beta, saying that it’s “just around the corner.”

Executive Producer Craig Zinkievich shared the news with VideoGamer.com over the phone from their California offices. Said Zinkievich, “The closed beta is really just right around the corner. I think that there’s a press release that’s going to go out in just a couple of days.”

As to the release date: “Without giving you the date, which I’m not allowed to give out or else the marketing people will come and smack me in the back of the head, I can tell you that the game will be out the first quarter of 2010.”

Of course, nobody wants to get smacked in the head by the marketing people.
