Remember those new Star Wars Battlefront games that were spotted on the ESRB website last week? Those have now been made official via an announcement from LucasArts. Star Wars Battlefront: Elite Squadron will launch this fall on the Sony PSP and Nintendo DS.

The game will follow the story of X2, a Force-sensitive clone trooper created from the DNA of a Jedi Master. After experiencing troll’s remorse and joining the Rebellion, X2 eventually comes into conflict with his evil clone brother X1.

The game includes a special “Heroes and Villains” mode where you can play as classic Star Wars characters like Luke Skywalker and Boba Fett as well as characters from Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed.

Players will now also be able to fight on multiple levels. You can stay on the ground and fight on foot or commandeer a vehicle. You can even take the fight to space and do battle on capital ships. Here’s an overview of the different features found in the game’s PSP and DS versions.
