Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron’s Galactic Conquest mode video
Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron is more than just invading a planet with your merry band of mercs, guns blazing. It’s also about playing it smart and planning your strategies on a galactic level. In this update for Rebellion Development’s continuation of the Star Wars video game franchise, Mike Rosser, lead designer, talks about the Galactic Conquest mode for the game and how it stands out from its other iterations in the series.
While the basic mechanics remain similar to previous versions of the game (conquer planets, get more resources, rule the galaxy), the Galactic Conquest mode in Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron gives players more short-term goals amidst your overall mission of conquering the galaxy. The map has now been divided into smaller quadrants where completing the conquest of all the planets in a said quadrant gives you extra perks like bonus resources or the chance to recruit a famous commander, like Admiral Ackbar or Grand Moff Tarkin.
Much like any strategy aspect of a game, Galactic Conquest gives players time to sit back and think a bit before diving again into the fray, giving the game a nice multi-faceted aspect that people will enjoy.
Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron will come out exclusively for the PSP this October 9. In the meantime, take a look at the video showing a tutorial of the Galactic Conquest mode from the Renegade Squadron team blog, or check out the source link for additional some talking points from the lead designer himself.
